ENZYMES

enzyme structure

An enzyme is a protein molecule that acts as a catalyst. These catalysts are responsible for increasing the rate of the chemical reactions that take place in our body. Similar to proteins, enzymes are also composed of one or multiple long chains of amino acids, and each has a unique sequence and characteristic shape.

The human body contains thousands of different enzymes which oversee our digestion, absorption, transportation, metabolism, as well as the elimination of waste. Every aspect of the human body – including our organs, tissues, and even our cells – rely on the enzymes and their reactions. Since our diets usually do not include all the required enzymes needed, we are able to consume supplemental ones as well. These are sourced from either plant or animals and extracted into powder for use in capsules.
